How to perform vital tooth bleaching using lasers

• Pre-operative photo and shade selection is done
• Scaling and polishing with pumice is done
• Vaseline is applied on the lips for protection
• Gingival barrier is applied on the teeth to protect the gums from the bleaching products and light cured for 30 secs.
• Mix bleaching powder with 30% hydrogen peroxide and form a paste, this paste is then applied on the teeth using applicator tip.
• A beam of laser is then projected upon the teeth; this laser activates the bleaching chemical and lightens the teeth color.Infra-red diode
• laser 790nm, 5min whereas for diode laser 970nm, 2.5min.
• Bleaching agent is removed and teeth are cleaned.
• Gingival barrier is removed
• Post operative picture is taken.

• Improving tooth shape ( lengthening short or worn teeth)

Composite VS Procelain Veneering

A veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over a tooth surface either to protect a damaged tooth surface or to improve aesthetics of a tooth. There are basically 2 types of veneers used in dentistry:

• Porcelain veneers
• Composite veneers
• A composite veneer may be directly built up in the mouth.Intraoral repair is possible in the mouth .In contrast to this porcelain veneer is indirectly fabricated and later bonded to the tooth using a resin based cement.

What is Ceramic Inlay

Ceramic inlay can be fabricated from a number of materials, each of which has its unique advantages and disadvantages. Current choice includes feldspathic porcelain, leucite reinforced, lithium disilicates and glass infiltrated ceramics.

Ceramic inlay indications include most of the typical indications for cast metal inlays with added requirement for a tooth colored restoration. They are stronger than direct posterior composite resins offering superior physical properties than the latter.

A ceramic inlay allows the practitioner to achieve an excellent shade match with the surrounding tooth structure.
