Hands on Practice with Physio-dispenser

Physiodespenser plays an integral part in the placement of an implant. The AADE India team will make sure that each student has a thorough knowledge on how to use a physiodespenser and its importance in the placement of an implant.

How to perform an implant surgery

  • Dental implant is a surgical component that integrates with the bone, on to which a dental prosthesis is made.
  • It works on the principle of OSSEOINTEGRATION.
  • Osseointegration is a highly dynamic process, it helps in remodelling and maintenance of bone during the life of the implant
  • Its Components includes- Implant fixature, Abutment & Crown.
  • Implant fixature is first placed (so that it is able to osseointegrate), following which crown is placed.
  • Implants can be placed immediately after extraction (k/a Immediate loading Implants) or after healing (k/a Delayed loading Implants)
  • Variable amount of healing time is required for osseointegration.

  • Sterile surgical cassette’(Anesthetic syringe,Periosteal elevator, Surgical blade holder, Tissue
  • Holding forceps and reinforcement tool).
  • Physiodespenser
  • Implant kit with drills

  • Sterile gauze

Surgical protocol during dental implant placement

  • Dental implant placement must be both biologically and restoratively driven.
  • Pre surgical planning includes measurement of bone height and density.
  • Dental implant placement requires accurate diagnosis and comprehensive case study.
  • Deficient osseous ridge must be reconstructed with bone grafting prior to implant placement.

Immediate loading Vs Delayed loading implant

Immediate implants are placed immediately after tooth extraction allowing the clinician to reduce the no. of surgical procedures, resulting in shorter treatment time. Whereas delayed implants are inserted 3-6 months after the extraction which provides a good quality bone. It is also dependent on the quality and quantity of existing bone at the implant site and the ability to achieve and maintain adequate stability of the implant so that micro-movement is kept below the biological threshold.

Preventions to prevent implant failure

  • Practice good oral hygiene
  • Brush and floss twice daily
  • Use alcohol free antibacterial mouthwash
  • Avoid hard candy and other foods that are rough on teeth.
  • Visit your dentist every 3-6 months for routine assessment.
